Tampa Radio Staff Engineer

A rare opportunity is available to join a major market radio engineering team to work with some of the newest state of the art technology at Tampa's Beasley Media Group. Duties include but are not limited to studio and transmitter maintenance and construction, as well as troubleshooting advanced RF Systems, and audio routing systems. The ideal candidate will be successful in working well with staff, thinking clearly under pressure, and applying creative solutions in a timely matter. Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of radio engineering experience;
  • Knowledge of RF Systems, and RF troubleshooting skills;
  • Experience with radio studio construction and maintenance;
  • Experience with WideOrbit Radio Automation software is preferred, but not required;
  • Ability to provide helpdesk support to end users for Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems;
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures regarding Networking;
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds;
  • Must be willing to work off hours and be on call;
  • Must have own transportation;
  • SBE Certification a plus;
  • Ensure compliance with FCC Rules and Regulations;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Valid drivers' license and vehicle insurance are required;

Tampa Director of Engineering

We are seeking a dynamic individual to provide leadership with a hands-on role that will lead, train, schedule and oversee the work and performance of others. Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of Broadcast engineering experience;
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience;
  • Associates Degree in Engineering/Technical Discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Responsible for broadcast infrastructure design, integration, maintenance, and operation;
  • Knowledge of RF Systems, and RF troubleshooting skills;
  • Experience with radio studio construction and maintenance;
  • Responsible for immediate and long-term forecasting and budget proposals for new projects and replacement of current equipment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate solutions to team members and other departments;
  • Experience with WideOrbit Radio Automation software is preferred, but not required;
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds;
  • Must be willing to work off hours and be on call;
  • SBE Certification a plus;

Seeking a Managing Editor to help maintain WABE's high standards for journalistic quality and community service.

The managing editor will lead the day-to-day operations of WABE's newsroom and oversee a growing team of editors, reporters and producers. The managing editor will possess a sophisticated and nuanced understanding of how to drive editorial impact in the Atlanta area and within the region through original reporting and multi-platform storytelling.

The right candidate for this role appreciates the growth, scope and innovation that WABE has undergone in the past few years; but also sees potential and opportunity, as well as the necessity, of the station's editorial vision growing and developing even further.

On a day-to-day basis, the Managing Editor supervises WABE's news reporting, editing staff and oversees the daily news-gathering efforts to provide timely, high-quality news and feature coverage. This includes daily news and ongoing enterprise coverage. The Managing Editor works closely with the news management team to ensure effective communication and coordination among managers and front-line staff. Also, works closely with counterpart in Digital & Social Media department.

This position reports to the Vice President of Radio.
