News Director
KMAN and The Manhattan Mercury and their parent companies have built a modern, multimedia news operation that includes broadcast, web and print components.
We're looking for a reliable radio journalist who can work independently to produce daily broadcasts and also as part of a team, coordinating reporters for assignments that go out to the public in multiple forms. The successful candidate must be an excellent communicator with strong news judgement and time-management skills. This person will build relationships within the community and maintain high standards for content.
Manhattan is a college town in the Flint Hills that is also home to Fort Riley and several state and federal entities - so there is no shortage of news! The Seaton family's media companies have a history in this community that goes back more than a century. The Mercury put KMAN on the air in the 1950s, and the two organizations have joined forces to produce robust, independent journalism for our audience.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field 3-5 years radio experience Valid driver's license and ability to drive to assignments
