Chief Engineer

CHIEF ENGINEER - WMBD/WIRL/WSWT/WXCL/WKZF/WPBG Radio Midwest Communications in Peoria, one of the most dominant audio and digital media groups in Illinois, has an immediate opening for an experienced Chief Engineer. In this role, you'll be part of a passionate and strategic management team that is committed to top quality technical facilities and overall organizational excellence. You will oversee the technical facilities of the largest audio audience and best-rated radio brands in Central Illinois as well as our sophisticated digital services. You'll work in a high-energy culture, alongside amazing media personalities and a talented overall team.

Expectations include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to inspect, repair and maintain all broadcast radio station equipment including transmitters, antennas, satellite downlinks, automation systems, STLs, studio equipment and related other equipment.
  • Network and overall IT knowledge and experience, and experience with digital audio and audio streaming. Higher level IT knowledge is a benefit.
  • Knowledge of FCC regulations is required.
  • Ability and willingness to work with minimal supervision and be willing to work some nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
This position reports to the VP-Market Manager. Your competencies should also include solid interpersonal, verbal and written skills, and practical software proficiency (in particular, Microsoft Office programs and G-Suite). We're looking for a high-integrity technical facility leader who is committed to broadcast, audio, and IT excellence and wants to contribute to helping our team win. Minimum three years of broadcast engineering experience is highly desired. A valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and proof of insurance are all required.
