Traffic & Continuity Director

Responsibilities:

Responsible for scheduling of commercials, tracking and entering copy, producing daily logs, and completing affidavits for our radio stations. Ability to maximize revenue on high demand stations in sell out situations. The Traffic & Continuity Director proactively interfaces directly with agencies/clients in obtaining copy and instructions for scheduled sales orders and is able to contribute on both the copy and log side of the business and support the fast-paced team.

  • Review and assess any ad sales creative issues that affect tracking, successful execution, reporting and downstream billing.
  • Work closely with the VP of Sales to ensure the copy is meeting the expectation of the client and missing copy is received timely.
  • Be flexible to accommodate last minute business.
  • Provide unsurpassed customer service.
  • Liaise among programming, sales department, and commercial production departments.
Skill Requirements:
  • A minimum 2 years of previous broadcast traffic experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Commitment to ''internal client'' and customer service to deliver excellence through your contribution to the team.
  • Ability to handle large volumes of material (multiple channels)
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Marketing & Promotions Director

Red Apple Media, located in New York City, is seeking a Marketing & Promotions Director. The successful candidate must have a solid track record with a minimum of 3 years in broadcast management with hands-on promotion, marketing or public relations experience. They should understand foreground radio and how to communicate with its listeners and advertisers. They must be creative with ideas, words and design. They must understand how to use resources of the department to generate revenue for the radio station. Exceptional communication, writing, computer and personal skills mandatory. A driver's license is required. BA degree in marketing, advertising or related field preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for efficiency and evaluation of radio station's promotion department personnel
  • Confer with Senior Executives to discuss/generate programming, sales promotion, branding and revenue opportunities
  • Directs preparation and execution of all promotional events
  • Communicates with outside advertising agencies on on-going campaigns
  • Works internally and externally to oversee copywriting, design, creation and production of promotional materials
  • Monitors and evaluates sales/programming promotion results to determine cost effectiveness of promotion initiatives
  • Create and execute monthly and quarterly projects that are designed to generate non-spot revenue for the radio station
  • Develop programs to generate revenue through station website
  • Responsible for all station new release, external media contacts and publicity as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 Years in Broadcast Management/Promotional field
  • Mandatory Valid Driver's License
  • B.A in Marketing or related field preferred

Parttime Board Operators

Red Apple Media is searching for Part-Time Radio Board Operators with at least 1 year of experience running a broadcast board for 77 Talk Radio WABC (New York, NY) and Talk Radio 107.1 WLIR-FM (Hampton Bays, NY) from the radio group's Midtown broadcast center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run radio broadcast board for live and pre-recorded local and syndicated programs plus news, traffic and weather breaks
  • Play all commercials and promos as scheduled
  • Maintain accurate commercial and transmitter logs
  • Monitor the technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming from master control room
  • Regulate timing of programs
  • Handle emergency inserts (e.g. breaking news updates, emergency alert system, amber alerts etc.)
  • Be familiar with EAS guidelines and air emergency alert system tests as indicated
  • Be familiar with FCC rules and protect the company's FCC license by censoring live programs and deleting words / phrases not permitted on air
  • Troubleshoot technical problems
  • Notify Engineering of technical malfunctions affecting quality of the broadcast

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Available to work assigned shifts primarily nights, overnights, weekends and holidays
  • Familiarity with automation systems, Zetta Radio Automation System a plus
  • Proficient in Google Apps Business Suite (Gmail / Docs / Sheets / Slides / Drive) and audio editing software like Adobe Audition
  • Must be able to work with little supervision with multiple demands
  • Time management and attention to detail
  • Dependability and reliability a must
  • At least 1 year experience in the same / similar position in a mid- to major radio market
  • High school diploma required. College or related technical training a plus

DESCRIPTION: Red Apple Media is seeking a high-energy, passionate journalist who can write accurately and meet deadlines. This candidate must have strong news judgement and be in tune with breaking news as well as all major local, national, and international developing stories. This position also involves on-air news anchoring.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fill-In Anchor approximately one-minute newscasts live at the top of the hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 2+ years writing, anchoring, reporting news radio, print or TV

  • Position requires contemporary sound and excellent on-air delivery
  • Knowledge of the broadcast area and station demographics is essential
  • 4 year degree in journalism preferred

The ideal candidate has an understanding of what drives engaging talk content, is articulate, easily connects with the audience and is driven to succeed in a major market. This is not an entry level position. A minimum of three years' on-air experience with proven ratings success in the news-talk format is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute a live on-air show that is topical, informative and entertaining
  • Excellent interview skills with the ability to moderate discussion with callers or panel of experts
  • Reinforce program identity and station brand at all times
  • Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations and the ability to work within their scope and in compliance with all station policies and procedures
  • Generate daily social media, video and website content that is creative and innovative
  • Produce weekly podcast
  • Make personal appearances at station, community and sales events and at remote broadcasts that are sometimes outside of the normal work schedule
Qualifications:
  • Passion for the news / talk format
  • Excellent on-air speaking voice
  • Deep knowledge of news, politics, and current affairs
  • Ability to prep and curate a talk show
  • Articulate conversationalist with the ability to keep listeners engaged across platforms
  • Ability to think spontaneously and ad-lib while on-the-air or at appearances
  • Ability to read fluently or ad-lib commercial copy
  • Dependable with the ability to work other hours or alternate schedules as needed or required
