Afternoon Drive Personality

1. Insure that the station is, at all times, in compliance with current FCC Rules and Regulations, both from the standpoint of program and transmitter standards of operation and performance.

2. Prepares for and executes and on air shift using creativity, imagination and exercise of judgment in writing, producing, interviewing, taping or broadcasting on air material for the WBQB Afternoon Drive Show.

3. Perform on the air preparation and presentation for WBQB-FM's afternoon drive show in a professional manner, either informatively or entertainingly, as the occasion may call for, to standards set by the Operations Manager.

4. Provide hourly news and traffic report updates, including the re-writing of news as received from wire services or other sources as required.

5. Responsible for participating in the voicing commercial spots as requested.

6. Perform effectively at remote broadcast or other out of studio events to which the announcer may be assigned, as an emcee or announcer.

7. Work closely and amiably with other employees in the programming and other departments for the smooth and orderly flow of work through the department(s) and/or onto the air. Execute all assignments as professionally and as swiftly as possible.

8. Keep informed as to events in the world and local communities served, and be able to communicate such knowledge on the air.

9. Understand how to perform basic transmitter operations via the studio remote control (ex. turn transmitter on/off, raise or lower power, take transmitter readings).

10. Activates and completes EAS Tests and alerts for the station(s). Afternoon Drive Personality WBQB

11. Monitors program logs against actual program content and corrects to reflect the properly completed log.

12. Create informative and entertaining posts and interact with listeners on social media platforms to standards set by the Operations Manager.

13. Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager. EOE

Position Summary

Baltimore Public Media (BPM)seeksa creative and detail-orientedHost and Producerto workalongside the programming department tofurther engage with the Maryland community through thoughtful programming. This roleis responsible forhosting thedailyafternoon drive shift on WTMD, creating content for the website and social media platforms.This position is engaged with the Development Department as talent for events and pledge drives.

Key Responsibilities

Host daily afternoon drive shift. Produce, edit, and publish original contenton the websiteand social media. Produce, edit, and publish on-air spots for BPM pledge drives. Appear andassistat events with theDirector of Events.

Serve as a fill-in host or board operator as needed. Ensure all content aligns with BPM's brand, editorial standards, and mission. Participates in WTMD's Matrix Management Model as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of 1 year of radio hosting experience, preferably in public broadcasting. Minimum of 1 year of radio production experience, preferably in public broadcasting. Strong understanding of local and national music trends. Excellent writing and radio script development skills. Strongannouncing, board operation, and on-air presentation abilities. Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred:

Experience producing content for an AAA radio station. Familiarity with social media content strategy and publishing tools. Knowledge of public media audiences.

Compensation

Salary Range:$65,000- $70,000

Reporting & Collaboration

Reports to theProgram Director

Works withDevelopmentDepartmentfor on-air production of spots for pledge drives. Works with event production teams as needed.
